teens

Before the games are turned on and the instruments are in tune there is a lot of work that is done to make that place happen.   Whether learning how to maintain the equipment, setup the stage, clean the facility or understand how to push the pretty buttons that make everything work, teens have a big role to play at that place.  If you are age 13-18 and interested in making that a better place, talk with one of the adults or another teen volunteer about the next steps.  There is a volunteer application form to complete and parental permission is required for students who are under 18 years old.

Community Service Work?

If you are looking for a place to do community service, either for a school project or assigned by the department of corrections, that place might be the place for you to serve.  If the service is DOC assigned, the hours must be served when that place is not open and generally involves cleaning or yardwork.  If the CSW is for a school project or you just want to make a difference, there are a variety of projects that we can assign and supervise.  Contact us for more information.

adults

We have put much thought and planning into providing a safe and positive environment for the teens of this area.  If you are interested in volunteering with us, understand that there is a process that we follow to provide the most protection possible for both the teens and the adults  who serve.  You have probably heard news reports about people within our region and even our city who have violated the trust given to them by parents.  We are doing everything within our power to prevent  such things from ever happening within our midst and encourage other youth organizations and ministries to do the same.  Our kids deserve nothing less.

We have a great group of adults that have taken the time necessary to become "approved " volunteers.  An approved volunteer can serve in any of the areas of supervision and work directly with teens at that place.  We have a defined process that must be completed before adults can be considered "approved":
- Complete a volunteer application,
- Agree with our stated purpose and policies,
- Be interviewed by the director,
- Submit to a criminal background check, (includes a fee for processing)
- Receive training in any assigned areas

There are areas of service that do not require the steps listed above, but are also limited in that they do not include direct interaction with teens.  Actually a lot of the work required to make that  place what it is, takes place at times when students are not around.

If you would like to know how you could be of assistance this week or would like to take the first steps to becoming an approved volunteer, contact us today.
